Lucid Dreaming - Dream Signs and
Signals
One of the great marvels of the world are crop circles in which
signals and signs are cut into large areas of vegetation by often unknown methods and beings. Fans of
nineties music might remember a song called The Sign by Ace of Base. While driving we are constantly
bombarded with signs and signals. Stop signs, traffic lights, turn signals, brake lights and hazards are car
related alerts. Like the signs and signals that help us navigate the streets while driving, there are many
symbols we can turn to in our dreams to help us see things clearer and direct us to the dream states and
thoughts that we yearn for.
Lucid dreaming has many symbols we can turn to and utilize when trying to find our
inner dreaming strengths. Once we identify what some of these dream signs and signals are and how to
capitalize off of them we will begin drastic and positive changes in our attempts to dream with more
lucidity.
When studying important lucid dream signs and signals it is key to focus on those
themes, occurrences and subjects that frequently appear while we are dreaming. Symbols can
be very personal or widely general and common to all humans. What we are really trying to
find is anything that continually confronts us in our dream states. Some of the more
universal dream objects and situations include angels, dying, losing things, difficulty comprehending numbers
and letters, lighting and electrical and mechanical failures.
The most valuable dream signs are those that are easily recognizable and found in our
every day lives as these allow our brains to make powerful connections between the real and dream life and
are much simpler to practice as well. This is not to say that the strange and abnormal is
completely left out of the picture. More obscure examples of dream markings such as
breathing under water, x-ray vision, gravity defiance, proportionally distorted objects or people, losing
teeth and irrational circumstances like a green cloud are all in the realm of useful dream
signals.
Even oddities like suddenly returning to an old friend’s house, out of character
tardiness, losing the ability to yell, strange speech patterns and arriving somewhere minus your clothes can
be great lucid dream helpers. Once we understand some of the signs we are looking for,
interpreting and utilizing them will be the next step.
What dream signs and signals allow us to do is to avoid just accepting our dream
happenings. They give us an opportunity to determine when we are dreaming which greatly
increases our chances of becoming lucid while in the sleep state. Although we can never
have complete control of our dreams, by dissecting dream characteristics and attributes we can draw from and
change dream outcomes that otherwise might be left alone or untapped.
Dreams have meaning both while we are sleeping and while we are
awake. Following an angel might lead us to a clarity we once were
missing. Losing a loved one or something as simple as your wallet might be telling us much
more about what need to do in our own real personal lives then we think. Regardless of
what we choose to use, any signs we can find that are common and prevalent throughout our dreams will be of
huge benefit when trying to induce lucid dreaming.
Dream signs and signals can be deeply personal and exclusive only
to a particular individual or extremely common and experienced by many but one thing is for certain; the firmer the
grasp we have on what they mean to us, the more aware we can become both while asleep and
awake. It is crucial to solidify the dream signs that have led to lucid dreams in the past and
to attempt to realize new ones as the more we develop these signals, the more substantial and extensive our lucid
dreaming abilities can become.
